As a consequence of the Ukraine-Russian war, new graffitis appeared in the streets of Tbilisi. These writings are mainly supportive to Ukraine and against Russians.
The following graffiti appeared in June 2022 one of the populous locations in Tbilisi, Georgia. St. Petersburg Street connects Agmashenebeli and Uznadze streets. It is surrounded by hotels, cafes, entertainment facilities and is often visited by foreign visitors.
As a protest to the Russian invasion in Ukraine, someone tried to erase traces of Russian “culture” in Tbilisi: they crossed out name of the street and wrote “Stop Putin”
Soon it became subject of the modification, someone inserted a green check mark symbol over the street sign:
But the name of Putin did not stay on the wall for a long – it was erased by the black paint.
Battle for peace and justice leveled up when a new sticker appeared on the sign: Fuck Putin with Georgian-Ukrainian flag clearly communicated dominant position of Georgian society. “Stop Putin” writing remained “hidden” under the black “cover”:
“Street battle” continued and soon the sticker was moved away. In less then week the street sign returned to “original” look, with censored content about stopping one of the most notorious politician of the modern world. As of September 2022, nothing has changed, but it still keeps signs of the “Street battle”, clear message and will of those who does not want the unfair war.
